When the Smoke Lingers is a 2D animated horror short inspired by Chinese Qingming Festival folklore, created collaboratively by a six-person team at Curtin University. I contributed cultural research, environment illustrations and animation for selected scenes, and also designed the film’s poster and title card. The project uses a paper cut-out visual style, layered compositions and atmospheric lighting to build suspense through visual storytelling.
